Injured Soldier visits Linden Schools to say “Thank You”
On February 16, 2010 the Linden Public Schools played host to a very special visitor: Corporal Joseph Whipple, United State Army. Corporal Whipple was injured in Iraq on April 1, 2009 when the vehicle he was traveling in flipped over swerving to avoid a bomb in the roadway. He was ejected from the vehicle and the 8,000 lb gunners’ turret came to rest on top of him. He sustained multiple severe injuries; 17 broken bones including both arms…..READ MORE

Iraq Veteran gives thanks for support
Cpl. Joseph Whipple stood in front of hundreds of children at School No. 1, raved about how much candy they had sent him, then patted his belly and smiled.
“As you can see, I’ve eaten it and enjoyed it,” the 32-year-old said.
Whipple, a resident of South Carolina, visited children at three Linden schools Tuesday to personally thank them for the many cards, letters and gifts they sent to cheer him up after he was injured while serving in Iraq…… READ MORE

Santa Lands in Linden for Leagers Kids
Santa Claus came to town in style this week, replacing his staple sleigh and reindeer with shiny red helicopter.
His early arrival was a part of Doherty Enterprises annual “Breakfast with Santa” celebrations, which this year will take place at more than 60 different locations throughout New Jersey.
